  1. Hi. Graded a job last year that i have not shared before. It is a bit colorful. Shot on Red Epic 6 k and graded in Davinci Resolve Studio with ACEScc. Director/DoP: Daniel Kunz Camera: Sven Wedekind Colorist: Margus Voll, C.S.I.
  2. I just had a job for feature trailer where i did all finishing artist does. I have done this many years with commercials i produce and it felt normal to me in that sense it could be nice to have good tool for that. Despite having all in same app it still does not mean you could not have different parts of your team or independents working together if no need just do not enter other tabs? I have managed to skip audio tab all the time now
  3. For small changes post - group adjustments seems also good in some cases. Specially when multiple shots have same treatment either one way or the other. I use that on top of initial looks or adjustments just to adjust look to some degree like you mention colder or more sat etc.
  4. Sometimes compression helps on file size but i think there was post if that affects playback. Can not remember now the place it was talked about but felt like it could depend on system. I use them daily basis for VFX shots coming back specially ACES in mind as all prores and such killed color data in heart beat. My system does not seem any different but really depends on your machine, drives and overall performance vs resolution. Better is to test it out every time when you can before job how your machine and platform handles it. Also keep in mind and talk to your VFX house if any involved how they give you mattes and in which channel as EXR can have many many embeded. Works great if everybody knows what they are doing.
  5. Play back your file then from BM Media express? All is rendered and it just needs to play. I'm pretty sure with decent client it s not an issue when something stops for a moment. Any computer can hang on modern days.
  6. I would see it mostly as seek time and speed issue. If your drive or array has good speed or fast seek it should not be a problem. On ssd usually it is not the case as the nature of drive is different. Sent when walking
  7. Hi. I just upgraded my w10 workstation from i7 to i9 due mobo and win now working well after bios update with something called Intel Asus Hyperthreading issue. So i had some jobs coming in and i went and ordered new board and cpu quicly. Parts were cheaper compared to original board and cpu one year ago. After a week i got all parts and started installing. For my disappointment system was not stable in some apps (all Adobe related killed it instantly to blue screen) and stuttered after boot some times. Main suspects were dual GPU that Adobe does not like, OC, and some software or drivers. Yesterday i figured after another reboot that stutter after boot when moving mouse is nothing to do with Adobe so i started monitoring more closely and what do you know, loose parameters on OC killed it instantly when cpu spiked at 5 ghz. After taming it down to 4.6 ghz it seems stable in all apps and just works. I have some cheap water cooling unit installed so i do not worry about temperatures much and Ram is air cooled with the fan setup i got with the sticks originally. I'm yet to see if it will help any with 8k RED but overall now system seems more fluid with dual M.2 ssd's one for os (250 gig) and one for media and cache (2 TB). I have one 1 tb regular sata ssd also for any cases bur foe now it seems like backup. If anyone cares in more detail then i can give some details.
  8. I meant this but it needs asus board as it seems. I see in my bios selections for it. https://www.asus.com/Motherboard-Accessory/HYPER-M-2-X16-CARD/ Sent when walking
  9. I have motherboard with dual M.2 slots and one is for os ssd with 250 gb 2000 read / 1500 write and 2 tb one for media and cache around 2000 / 2000 even tho on paper it should be faster. Now there is ad on cards for some motherboards that stripe 4x M.2 for speed. If needed then that would pretty nice. I would consider ssd only for cache now as even the regular ones run 400-500 mb/sec. Just my 2 cents. Sent from my HUAWEI VNS-L21 using Tapatalk
  10. Yes, for now it is just something that has been done somewhere.
  11. Does it look good or just another version of Resolve auto color ?
  12. Hi. I had interesting and different music video grade in the end of last year. Look wise and story wise it was interesting for me as it is dystopian weird dream. The story said we should get dusty desert feel and soft looks to it. Different from the things that we usually are asked for most of the times. All was shot on Arri Mini with rehoused Lomo set. Graded in DaVinci Resolve Studio in ACEScc colorspace. YT does make wonder to images like always but i can not share it on my profile. Maybe i could give some still frames to look at. Directed and written by TOMM¥ €A$H Produced, Art Directed and Styled by Anna-Lisa Himma Director of Photography: Heiko Sikka Editing: Emeri Abel Colorgrade: Margus Voll, C.S.I. CGI: Denis Strahhov Production design: Anna-Lisa Himma, Anneli Arusaar
  13. I would say combination of things mentioned here would work in all scenarios.
  14. Ok we will see how it is in real life if anyone is willing to get one
  15. What was the price range?
  16. Hi. I was looking at the main site and then going over some tutorials on Vimeo and YouTube. Nothing that super specific. All the things pointed here you should take a look. As i'm somehow slammed with work now i have been behind on my learning curve a lot. Hope to get on with it very soon. Hope this helps!
  17. I'm pretty sure they will if you look at the level of work they do. Sad still.
