  1. I enjoyed the color work as well. That said, I would spread the dynamic range in the highlights more so that the top IRE levels would feel less clamped. This can be seen on the second shot when the man walks into the frame and on the old guys head, as an example. Adding cyan into the highlights that is done here will increase the flat feeling. That said, really nice color work, and the overall range is great! Thumbs up!
  2. Could this compete with the Nvidia cards? http://www.tomshardware.com/news/amd-radeon-pro-duo-graphics-card,34229.html
  3. They have totally copied the Avid functionality and even used their features' names. Companies have been sued for less, and I'm really curious about Avid's response. That said, I think this product (at least) will compete with both Avid and Premiere inn the small companies world and be a great product for individuals. Not so sure about large post houses with a bold infrastructures and many artists working together on the same shows etc.
  4. Welcome! Great to see you here, and nice work!
  5. I'm conforming a multi track timeline from an XML export. Every track seem to line up perfectly with all the time remapping and blending modes applied, but for some reason the scale translation data is far off. Every clip got different scaling parameters so I need to manually go into each clip and adjust it back to 1. Have you seen something similar?
  6. Hi Marcelo, this is where ACES plays a role and the reason why it have a chance to be the industry standard the next years. @Margus Voll can probably elaborate some on the advantage when it comes to matching different footage with ACES.

I'm surprised that so many of the colorists represented on this site use Autodesk Lustre. Would be interesting to have a closer look at it.
  11. @Margus Voll probably got some insight to share about this?
  12. You should check NEC, Barco and Christie. You should probably have a look at the DP2k-P and DP4k-P projectors from Barco. If you want it cheap, you could call a local calibration guy and ask if he knows about a used projector for sale.
  13. Some of the most common monitors are the ones listed below, but you probably know that. The Sony BVM X 300 (30″, 1000 nit peak luminance, 4K) The Dolby PRM 32FHD (32″, 2000 nit peak luminance, 1080) The Dolby Pulsar (42″, 4000 nit, 1080)
  14. I have done a lot of testing with various material and it's possible to gain just as good results with mp4 on Vimeo. They reduce the subsampling date anyway to whatever they prefer (less than 4:4:4). I prefer to set the bitrate to at least 12Mbps. You don't have to pay much attention to if the bitrate encoding is set to VBR og CBR or different passes, it doesn't matter much and you will not notice it.

  16. Remember that your eyes react differently to object standing far away from and close to bright light sources as well. It could look too clean when removing all the "artifacts" caused by the consequences of the light conditions og object behavour. Some of them are perfectly natural in real life.
  17. I would also render a high resolution file from Baselight/DaVinci but compose a master file with audio + subs + graphics in a software like Smoke, Flame or even Avid.
  18. Have a look at this queens and gentlemen
  19. I've never heard of that because the business model are mainly based around post production studios. If you qualify for working with the big creative names on your own, you have most likely a long credit list and don't need representation.
  20. What's the benefit of red glass filter? Do you mean warm gels?
  21. Great color separation and it reminds me of some of Tim Burtons stuff. Nice luminance and color match between shots. Well done.
