  1. Hi there, I'm working in Resolve on a mac with a cleanfeed to my EIZO CS2700s via an Ultrastudio 3G over HDMI. Regardless of whether I set my monitor's input range to "limited" to match Resolves' Data Levels set to "video" or set both to "full", ticking the "Use 4:4:4 SDI"-option in Resolve (project settings --> master settings --> video monitoring) results in a huge brightness-shift. So that left me wondering whether I should check or uncheck the "Use 4:4:4 SDI"-option and why it's even altering my signal over HDMI? Thank you for your help - I'm really confused at that point... Cheers, Flo
  2. Hi members I'm currently researching on monitors for color grading purposes, and I come across Konvision. While researching on it, what confuses me is there are some monitors stated with true 10bit Panel and 12bit Video Processing. However for some of them, they doesn't have 10bit true color, but it comes with 12bit Video Processing. So what does that mean? Does it mean even without 10bit Panel, it can still be able to output 10bit? I do know we need an Ultrastudio for outputting a full image on any monitors, TV and etc regardless whether it's 10bit or not. But my question is, will Ultrastudio help let's say a TV outputting a 10bit image? Hopefully the questions are not confusing. Thank you!
  3. Hi! I'm a new member of the Lowepost family and a young aspiring colorist who saved up to buy a reference grade monitor. However, I am not 100% of how to set up my new DM240 for accurate monitoring. Flanders themselves offer a tutorial generally describing the process of profiling for generation of a monitor LUT, however FS tech support told me no calibration was necessary and didn't mention anything regarding monitoring LUTs. From previous experience, I am led to believe that generating a monitor LUT to be used on Resolve Color Management is absolutely necessary for accurate monitoring, but what I do not know is exactly what settings to tweak in both the monitor and the calibration software, in my case, DisplayCAL since I can't afford FSI's own $550 USD iProfiler/CalMAN bundle. Most of my work is for web, seldom any TV work. So should I mess with the monitor's luminance? Should I be using Video or Data as my SDI level? What settings should I tweak when setting up the calibration in DisplayCAL? I am aware that monitor calibration is no easy subject, but I'm willing to learn and offer any additional information that might help me with my journey as a colorist. Thank you!
  4. Hi everyone,😊 Looks like the CG248 4K monitor has been discontinued. I need a self calibrated monitor because I might go in a country where there are no experts and proper calibration tools. I can see there are others Eizo monitor which could do the job but there are HDR. It might be a bit overkill for me. I will mostly do REC709 grade. Should I invest in an HDR monitor like the ColorEdge CG247X or the ColorEdge CG279X? My budget is $4000 Do you know other brands who offers Self calibrated solutions for video colour grading? (up to UHD) My budget is $4000 (Australian) A lot of questions I know ^^ Thank you!!!!!!!!!🙂
  5. I'm fairly new to grading and I've been struggling with monitor calibration ever since. I'm using Resolve with a 2019 MacBook Pro laptop connected up to my EIZO CG277 monitor via a DisplayPort to usb C cable. Usually I'm working in retouching so I use the inbuilt calibration profile for that. However when grading I've been switching to a sRGB profile to try and keep everything more consistent when exporting and viewing in VLC/QT etc... Would the more advanced users be able to advise what profiles I should be using? also if theres any colour settings I should be changing in DaVinci? Any advice would be greatly appreciated!
  6. Are everybody ok with grading using a monitor with 700-800:1 ANSI contrast? This is pretty usual contrast ratio (when set to 100 nit) on so called grading monitors like NEC, BenQ, etc. I mean, for grading you should have at least 2000:1 ratio. Black at 0,05 nit or lower. But I found, for some reason I'm more accurate in blacks when I work at monitors with 700-800 contrast ratio compared to 1150-1350:1. I know about angles, ips, OLED, environment lighting standards, etc. Just curious what you think about working with not 2000:1 ANSI contrast ratio displays. I'm talking about measured data. Not about data taken from specs of course.
  7. Hello All, I have just purchased an FSI DM240 for my home grading suite. The out of the box calibration is fantastic and I have been having a great time working on it, but there is one thing that I am hoping someone with a little bit more expertise could shed some light on for me. In the Color Management section of the menu there is a setting for Luminance Mode with 4 options: Standard, Studio, Outdoor, and Custom. I am unsure if I should be working in Standard or Studio. Studio Mode appears to just have a higher peak luminance while retaining overall brightness and contrast. The Standard Mode seems to be a dampened in the highlights, especially when compared to the output on a computer monitor (This is only important as a lot of the content I work on is for Web), Where as the Studio Mode has brighter highlights. From what I have read you should just leave the settings as is and work with FSI monitors right out of the box, but the standard mode just seems a bit dark. Since this is my home suite, the lighting conditions aren't perfect, but they aren't horrendous either. My question is which one of these is "accurate" and which one should I use? Or should I use a custom luminance value? Do the numbers correspond to nits? And, What is the correct peak nit output for rec 709? I am a newbie to professional monitoring (this FSI is my first), though I have done a fair amount of research, so if any of my questions are misguided please correct me! Thanks, Alex
  8. Dear members, has anyone a reference monitor for sale? Best would be an Eizo CG248-4K, or similar. Eizo CG247X would work too, but I prefer something FHD upwards. 10bit and 3DLut, color space rec.709 100%, <100% dci-p3. Not smaller than 23". HDMI or SDI Input. Thanks for your help. Kind regards, Andres.
  9. Flanders CM171 broadcast monitor for sale. In mint condition.ony been used in studio. Asking for 2800CD
  10. Hi all! What is the main difference between a monitor that show P3 gamut and a P3 projector?
