Thomas Singh July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 Does anyone of you know if it's possible to visualize the attributes of a 3D Lut? I'm used to Houdini where we can change the translation and rotate around the object to reveal what data is modified.
Andy Minuth July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 With the Truelight zview tool you can visualise a LUT. You can move around in 3D space, pick individual points, see In-Out vectors of the points, etc. But you cannot change it.
Abby Bader July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 Andy, can you extract the information you see and use it for something?
Orash Rahnema July 22, 2017 Share July 22, 2017 You can also use lattice Orbitate around the cube and with a slider you can check whats effected

I use zview rarely to check out a LUT. You can see if it was made with a formula or with measured data, for example. And if there are 'weird things' happening, you might find the reason while examining the cube. But for daily grading work I see no benefits, more if You are building LUTs yourself.
Tom Evans July 24, 2017 Share July 24, 2017 If you want to adjust the attributes by points like in Houdini you should look at the 3dlut creator app.

Can this software do anything that 3D Lut Creator can't?

Can this software do anything that 3D Lut Creator can't? Hi Abby, unfortunately I've never tried 3dlut creator so I can't really answer that. What I know is that 3dlut creator can actually be used to build luts, Lattice not really. With lattice you can take luts, analyse them by viewing curves or cubes, you can separate the contrast curve and the chroma, and you can combine different luts into one. But most of all, and that is what i used it more, you can export luts in different formats. I for example create a lut in davinci, export it as a .cube and convert it into .aml to load it in the alexa mini.
Thomas Singh August 6, 2017 Author Share August 6, 2017 Great options, I do have a background as a still photographer and 3d lut creator looks very promosing. I will definitely download trials and check out the other solutions as well.
