Anfisa Zelentsova March 17, 2021 Share March 17, 2021 Good evening everyone! We're pleased to introduce our new film profile - Cinestill 800T! Cinestill 800T is a modern photographic film based on the Kodak Vision 3 500T. To allow development with the standard C-41 process, this movie film is treated by removing the anti-halation layer and stabilizing the emulsion with a special solution. Because of the differences between the C-41 and the original ECN-II processes, Cinestill recommends to expose the modified film as ISO 800 (instead of 500). Cinestill differs from the original, untreated film in grain, obvious halation, higher contrast, cool shadows, and red-orange colors in the midtones. The film is best suited for evening and night scenarios with point light sources in the scene. Cinestill 800T profile becomes especially expressive and authentic with Halation, Bloom, Grain and Vignette effects. To get this new film profile, click the Update button within your Dehancer Pro, Lite or Photo Edition plugin. You can download Dehancer plugins for DaVinci Resolve on our website. Anfisa Zelentsova March 29, 2021 Share March 29, 2021 Hi everyone! We just published a new video about the halation effect, where we explain what it is and why it's so important to use when imitating a film image. At the end of the video, we will demonstrate how this can be done using Dehancer plugin, but we believe that information about its nature will be useful to every photographer or videographer, not just for those interested in film emulation, for a couple of reasons: •Halation is much more complex and doesn't only appear around the light sources. •Halation can make skin tones more attractive and natural. Enjoy!

Anfisa Zelentsova April 21, 2021 Share April 21, 2021 Hey guys! The final part of the video-course by Pavel Kosenko is out on our channel. Color wheel is one of the most popular concepts when it comes to color harmony. It is believed that, on this wheel, colors are located in a special way. And if they balance each other out and add up to a neutral color, then they are harmonious. That's fake news. In this video we're debunking the color wheel myth, and share the tips and tricks to actually harmonise colors. Take notes.

Anfisa Zelentsova May 18, 2021 Share May 18, 2021 (edited) Hey guys! We're happy to introduce our new film profile - Cinestill 50D! Cinestill 50D is a modern photographic film based on Kodak Vision 3 50D. To allow development with the standard C-41 process, this movie film is treated by removing the anti-halation layer and stabilizing the emulsion with a special solution. The key difference between Cinestill 50D and Kodak Vision 3 50D is in the more pronounced halation effect, both locally and globally. This has a beneficial effect on skin tones, which appear even more tanned. Cinestill 50D film profile is best suited for bright sunny images. Cinestill 50D profile becomes especially expressive and authentic with Halation, Bloom, Grain and Vignette effects. To get this new film profile, click the Update button within your Dehancer Pro, Lite or Photo Edition plugin. You can download Dehancer plugins for DaVinci Resolve on our website. Dmitry Lobaskov July 2, 2021 Author Share July 2, 2021 @Thomas Singh @Keidrych wasley Dear Sirs, In this regard, it is worth taking a philosophical attitude towards low productivity. Algorithms are slightly ahead of hardware. Let's remember the 2000s, when there was no real-time at all, people fought to at least playback adequately, effects in real time were out of the question. Then, too, the needs and the code overtook the hardware, and after the hardware caught up with software. It was a conscious decision to release new version like this. Dehancer is a complex software with sophisticated algorithms. We are constantly improving the performance, however, high-quality film simulation still requires top hardware to run smooth in realtime. Dehancer 4 is built upon the new cross-platform engine. Although we are making every effort to optimise the plugin for best performance, it will run noticeably slower than the Metal version for Mac. If you prefer a real time playback over breakthrough algorithms of newest Bloom and Halation, you can always install the version 3.4 for Mac by this link https://update.dehancer.com/downloads/macos/davinci_resolve/legacy/ Every license has two seats, so you can use both versions 3 and 4 in your projects. Travis Ward July 2, 2021 Share July 2, 2021 I'm on Windows and V4 works well enough for me most of the time. However, there have been a few times where my GPU mem (Nvidia 2070 8GB) gets maxed out and Dehancer stops working. Mostly in UHD+ timelines or if there is a complicated node structure. Otherwise, it's been pretty stable for me.

Hi, Can you please reinstate the ability to maintain image sharpness when using grain. With 4.1 it is now impossible to keep the original image sharpness and you are forced into having a soft image. This was not the case with V3. I'm all for authenticity but please allow users to decide rather than enforcing a soft image. Thanks
Anfisa Zelentsova August 10, 2021 Share August 10, 2021 (edited) Cold and hot, light and dark, sweet and bitter - are some of the fundamental contrasts in our life. And it's our job to adjust them and somehow find the balance to avoid feeling overwhelmed and miss out on the details. Same in the photography or filmmaking. With the only difference - we call it shadows and highlights clipping. Dehancer was designed to gently treat an image and has a set of tools that can help you soften and make it more harmonious. However, there're cases when it becomes more challenging. To learn more read our latest blog article "How to manage image contrast and avoid clipping": https://blog.dehancer.com/articles/how-to-manage-image-contrast-and-avoid-clipping/ Edited August 10, 2021 by Anfisa Zelentsova
