Nicolas Hanson August 23, 2016 Share August 23, 2016 We just set up a couple of HP z820 workstations and out media workflow is based on MXF DNxHD(HR). Our systems run the codec natively but could you recommend any media player that will read these files directly from the desktop?
Mazze August 23, 2016 Share August 23, 2016 Try SCRATCH Play: http://www.assimilateinc.com/products/scratch-play/ It reads DNxHD/HR MXF and also Quicktime encoded with DNxHD/HR, plus has some rudimentary CDL/LUT grading options, scopes, plenty of raw formats, support for VR, Oculus and a bunch of other stuff. And it's free of charge - when starting it up, just switch the licensing tab to "free player" and enter your email, that's it. Cheers, Mazze
Nicolas Hanson August 23, 2016 Author Share August 23, 2016 Thank you! It looks like a nice player, I will dig into it!
Igor Riđanović August 23, 2016 Share August 23, 2016 Play is great. I think the pay version of Telestream Switch can also play DNxHD inside MXF. I use Switch mainly in place of QT player.
Nicolas Hanson August 23, 2016 Author Share August 23, 2016 Interesting! And both the softwares play MXF OP-Atom and MXF OP1a?
Mazze August 24, 2016 Share August 24, 2016 DNxHR Op Atom works fine in SCRATCH Play - support for DNxHR OP1A is on it's way, but might take some time^^.
Nicolas Hanson August 24, 2016 Author Share August 24, 2016 It looks like MXF OP-atom is the only format we need to work with anyway so it should cover our need.
