3D Environments in DaVinci Resolve Fusion

In this course, our instructor Lee Lanier discusses the 3D environment provided by Resolve Fusion. He demonstrates how to set up a basic 3D scene, add and import models, assign materials and textures, add and adjust lights, and how to combine to the 3D scene with 2D parts of the Fusion flow.

The footage and assets used in this course are available for download so that you can easily follow along.

About the instructor

Lee Lanier has created visual effects on numerous features films for Walt Disney Studios and PDI/DreamWorks. Lee is a world-renowned expert in the video effects field, and has written several popular high-end software books, and taught at the Gnomon School of Visual Effects in Hollywood.

Great stuff.....thank you!

In this scenerio (L14 projecting matte paintings) though,

it would be easier inside fusion, to create a simple 3D shape, scale it up and resize the y-axis...

if you place the projector and the camera inside the shape you can simply use a bender node to  transform the shape to

The Dropbox link for this no longer has the /Footage/ folder, only /3D/ and /Resolve/. Also hoping these will be updated at some point to contain a single DRP with individual timelines for each video, as it's a huge pain to relink assets for every single DRP.

Good suggestion. I did want to demonstrate mesh importation, but there is a lot you can do with primitives.
