When is Resolve Stills coming out? Haha

I want to stop using Lightroom and Capture One for my still work all together :)

Resolve is so powerful and I feel like even with 90% of the tools taken out and some better RAW support/adjustments and modified asset management and UI, a version could be sold as Resolve Stills and it would be more successful than any of the current tools in photography, except Photoshop.

I use it for pictures already.
    Use Adobe DNG converter before.

The outcome is way nicer than anything Adobe Camera RAW (which debayers for lightroom as well) can do.

i use ACES so the IDT's are replaceing OFX transforms, i let the Sony be a Sony and Arri be an Arri, then tweak to match as needed

That's the better approach for sure.
Since a lot of their own color science will be "replaced" using ACES. Good news for Sony prosumer cameras for sure.

I tried with various convolution filters and frequency separation, but found that a quick and easy method actually worked the best (in Resolve anyway).

Apply the EdgeDetect plugin to node 02 (a corrector node added to the node graph and connected to the source input), adjust parameters to get your edge alpha, then pipe node 02 RGB output to your main stream (node 01) alpha input, and apply blur. This approach can be adapted to work with channels individually.

    Whoa, that's actually fantastic. Thanks
Was using Gaussian Blur on a node with a relatively low strength and blended it. GH5 footage is kinda challenging...
Now using this as a threshold I don't have to deal with any texture loss!

  4. Started using a linear workflow using ACES for my first feature film (am a producer, was DP and do Colorgrading and some VFX) a few weeks ago.

Premiere for Editing -> AAF for Audio -> XML to Resolve -> Grading in ACES CC still using REC709 ODT -> linear OpenEXR DWAA for FX without ODT -> OCIO linear workflow in After Effects -> OpenEXR DWAA back to Resolve -> ACES with ODT again.

Everything looks like it should, extended DR AND HDR compability in the future.
