  1. i have had log encoded DPX arrive at my doorstep, not clue how they got there, it's what the DiT created with DiT magic no issues with the files or the footage, nice looking highspeed food shots, flying peppers and dropping / bounceing msuhrooms in a studio, no issues with expoure or highlight rentention, but there was grownup behind the camera.
  2. awesome article Andy! i've been using L*a*b in Resolve for a while now, and more recently in BLE - both myself and my cleints and find the resualts to bring us close to our happy place quickly a questions for you if you have the time; where are the diffrences between using R-Lab and Basegrade? mainly the 4 zones and interactive surface mapping? or are the maths substaintily diffrent under the hood? next - a question about the article it's self, when you talked about Filmgrade + exposure you mentioned exposure not being truly linear due to input log curves, when in AP1 with raw sources is exposure also non-linear?
  3. In Resolve is do use L*a*b to grade, i've had enough seat time with client attended sessions to feel comfortable with it, and in Resolve find i can get to a decent base grade quickly withe these tools I'm not sure the RLAB in Baselight and the L*a*b in Resolve are the same, likely the conversions are not, and the feedback is not quite the same, not better or worse, just seems to be not the same but i'll need to test properly, or wait for v5 and Basegrade that seemingly takes some cues from L*a*b's non-linear responce that mimic's the way the eye sees colors
  4. that is excatly what i did, works as expected.. I wanted to test replacating a workflow i use in Resolve, thanks
  5. that's a good idea, will give it a shot today thanks Andy
  6. the manual points me to looks/none/advanced, and that does reveal L*a*b controls, but unless i select one of the presets the controls will not change anything.. what i really want is to have access to L*a*b without useing a preset thoughts? idea's on how to get to L*a*b in BLE?

    DCP software

i use DCP-0-Matic for festival screeners, works perfectly, and is both fast and free i send all bonded deliverables to a facility, includeing encrypted DCP's but i do create the DCDM myself so i know the color pipeline is solid
