  1. I have listened to Josh Petok's podcasts and I find some of them very interesting. Are there any other relevant podcasts that I should know about?
  2. That's a good start! The problem begins when they try to pack to much features into one single software package, because they have to make choices and set priorities. If that would not be a problem. Why do you think Adobe offer a production package and not a single software solution with all the tools? Because it's not smart. The same applies for marketing. It's not smart to market a product like DaVinci as an editor, like they have been forced to do now.
  3. Definitely not because of Avid. 95% of the major feature films done the last years are edited on an Avid platform. That's about the only professional editing solution in a top professional environment both in US, UK and most of Europe. The BMD editing solution is fine for one-man-studios, indie productions and small corporate studios but I can't imagine that the broadcast centers or post production houses that do high-end short forms or features will ever integrate a one-in-all solution like that. Maybe one or two stations to supplement the rest.
  4. Thank you, I will speak to the retailer and see if they have one of the old cards lying on the shelf.
  5. I guess you are right, thank you! What cheap card should I get, just to "pass the test"? We got other machines here, this set up is just for transcoding material over the weekends.
  6. Thank you Ildus! Can I run DaVinci without OpenCL by deactivating the option?
  7. I have an old Mac with an ATI Radeon HD 2600 card that I would like to set up to do some transcoding. When I open DaVinci it says "No OpenCL Acceleration Hardware Detected", followed by "Please quit Resolve and install a OpenCL accelerated GPU card or update your OpenCL software driver to the latest version before continuing to use Resolve". Can I continue to use my card or do I need to insert a new GPU card?
  8. You are right, I just have the Ultimatte keyer in After Effects back in the days. Keylight was the only keyer that could get the job done.
  9. Ultimatte can't best Keylight. Hopefully the acquisition changes that. My guess is that the don't want their product as is, but the knowledge to develop a new keyer for Fusion.
  10. Specialized tools and staff are important in professional work environments. The same guy can't to everything on the same machine. Note that BMD talks about their product as 'the world's fastest? EDITOR'. What happens when their editor features become more important than their color features? Is the professional colorists not the main target group anymore? What happened when Apple decided to make FCP available and customized for the masses?
  11. Great know how Dylan! Can you explain what you mean with 'use bending grids to push chroma / luma.'? Is the Alexa Lut creator a creative tool or for making transformations like Log to Rec709 etc?
  12. Sounds nifty! Have you any experience with them? Any difference between them that I should pay attention to? I will check them out!
  13. I need to import some clips from a Blu-ray into my timeline. Any software tips to rip the Blu-ray without quality loss?
  14. FPE = Film Print: Industry standard Vision 2383 film print. Medium contrast/saturation print stock.
  15. Great! Do you have any experience with Red Giant's OFX products?
  16. Is Neat Video the best alternative for denoising in Davinci? Why not use the internal denoise system?

Beautiful work Walter. The chemical scene with the extreme greens is a perfect example of how to use color to influence what we think and feel.
  18. I would also like to hear about your experience with HDR. Mike Sowa shares some thoughts in this video -
  19. Have you played around with any of the OFX plugins for Resolve? Do you find some of them useful and how about speed?
