  1. You need to contact Filmlight customer support regarding this issue as it could be thousands of reasons why your system is behaving this way. In our studio the new version is running flawless.

  3. Some of them have not been in use since the Avid DV version back in 2004. Not a very solid system back then I recall. It crashed regularly and we had to take the plane to London with the master tapes to get the shows on air on time.
  4. I thought it was a strange decision when they first made the choice to not allow reactivation of old licenses. That probably led to many users turning to the competitors. Good to know it's now possible as I have a bunch of the old purple dongles stored in a dusty box in my office.

  7. You don't need books to make an image look good. You only need the ability to manipulate the three color channels, density controls and inspiration. Recreate things you see around you and pay attention to light and color.
  8. Great thoughts and example images Bruno. I think that it looks like the movie was shot with a vivid color palette in mind. In a film noir there is a stylized simplicity to the aesthetics with hard lines between black and white. I know Miller is fan of 'chrome', but my personal opinion is that it would have worked better if the scenes were staged and lightened for that.
  9. I've had great success with lowering the master RGB-gain and increasing the luminance gain. That is a common technique to produce a silver tinted image. If you study Saying Private Ryan there are also some clipped blacks and blown out highlights.
  10. Changing the different values in the monochrome mixer can play an important part in storytelling. In this shot the director wanted to make the blood on his hands stand out, and in others we worked with texture and definition and handled banding artifacts.

  15. I came across this Scratch tutorial about beauty retouching. In still photography, retouchers often tend to use cloning, healing and B/D techniques. What is your approach to beauty work?
