  1. Update . . . I am now using the ASUS Proart PA32UCDM-R. This monitor uses the same Samsung panel as the Flanders XMP-310. I was truly impressed with the out of the box picture quality, and has gotten even better and more accurate recalibrating it with just the included 10,000 nit probe, and the ASUS software. A more high end calibration using Calman & Colorspace brings it to reference level for SDR, and near reference for HDR. I have yet to ever hear the fan even during an extended HDR grading session. The “trick”, if you want to call it that, is to not use the built-in USB-C charging port. It creates a lot of heat within the chassis, and is what causes the fan to engage at high speeds. This also allows the ABL to not kick in too early and abruptly. This monitor also includes a Display Port as well as the HDMI, a hood, and the aforementioned probe. It has a nice heavy duty stand that does everything except swivel left/right. It doesn’t have the onscreen bells & whistles that the more expensive reference displays have, nor does it have SDI – (you’d need to go to the next level ASUS PA27/32USD to get SDI), but if you don’t need those features, then here you go. Nothing like the quality of this piece, certainly in the under $2000 price point, and likely under $8K to $10K as well. Cheers.
  2. The Asus Proart models PA32UCG/UCX/UCR for HDR grading are truly surprisingly good. I was very pleasantly relieved and gratified at how good mine is when I plugged it in and fired it up. They all use the same 10bit, quantum dot, FALD mini led panel. Deep blacks, big color volume, really good coverage of P3/REC2020, and are conservatively rated for their maximum nit rating. And of course, no burn-in!! Are they Netflix approved? No. Will they ever be? Unlikely. All I can say is don't pass up taking a look at these simply because of that. Netflix isn't the only game in town. Cheers!
