I'm loving this tutorial, but I am having issues. I was wondering why my background keeps cropping and bugging out when I apply the crop at the end from natural resolution down to 1920x1080? I have attached a link to a test render on Vimeo (password is: lowepost).

https://vimeo.com/329713194

Does this occur during playback, or just when rendering? Does this happen without the Crop?

I've seen this behavior before - if I remember correctly, I deleted to tool to which the motion tracking data was applied and recreated that section of the network.

It happened in both playback and rendering. What I did to fix it was this, I went to the crop node after the dreamstime background file and clicked "reset size". I also re-did the entire background section of the node network and it fixed it.

Thank you for the quick reply!

Nice series, but for a beginner in Fusion, it is very confusing. How do you know which tool to put where in the node tree, and what tool to use out of the hundreds available? How do you know where to put the merge, transform, etc nodes? That's the big mystery. Are there any tutorials that go over all of these tools and when you would use each one, and in what order?

Yes, it takes some practice - node-based workflows can be confusing at the start. You might want to check out the "Introduction to Visual Effects in DaVinci Resolve Fusion" series at Lowepost. In it, I go over all the major categories of nodes and how to use many of them. Beyond that, the Fusion help manual has a descriptions of each node.

The project appears broken with 16

Hmm. Unfortunately, I am running Resolve Studio 16 but not the Fusion Studio 16 standalone. Are you unable to open the .comp files or is there some element of the motion tracking or node network that is not working?

You'll have to RMB-click on the clips in the Media tab, choose Replace Footage, and browse for the missing image sequences.

Hi guys!

I love this tutorial, but I had some serious issues towards the end that I can't seem to fix.  I went through it twice because I thought I must have missed a step, but I'm pretty sure I followed single step.  I tried my best to fix it, but something is happening in the Color Curves node when I go to correct the curve that makes the original foreground sky start to rip through the background still.  Almost like what would happen with colors in the Chroma Keyer when adjusting to get the key.  I also seem to have some strange green spill on the runner at the end and I'm not sure how to take care of it.  Any tips are much appreiciated. Oh, and I'm running on DaVinci Resolve 16.2.4  Thanks!
