  1. Hi! I'm a new member of the Lowepost family and a young aspiring colorist who saved up to buy a reference grade monitor. However, I am not 100% of how to set up my new DM240 for accurate monitoring. Flanders themselves offer a tutorial generally describing the process of profiling for generation of a monitor LUT, however FS tech support told me no calibration was necessary and didn't mention anything regarding monitoring LUTs. From previous experience, I am led to believe that generating a monitor LUT to be used on Resolve Color Management is absolutely necessary for accurate monitoring, but what I do not know is exactly what settings to tweak in both the monitor and the calibration software, in my case, DisplayCAL since I can't afford FSI's own $550 USD iProfiler/CalMAN bundle. Most of my work is for web, seldom any TV work. So should I mess with the monitor's luminance? Should I be using Video or Data as my SDI level? What settings should I tweak when setting up the calibration in DisplayCAL? I am aware that monitor calibration is no easy subject, but I'm willing to learn and offer any additional information that might help me with my journey as a colorist. Thank you!
  2. Are everybody ok with grading using a monitor with 700-800:1 ANSI contrast? This is pretty usual contrast ratio (when set to 100 nit) on so called grading monitors like NEC, BenQ, etc. I mean, for grading you should have at least 2000:1 ratio. Black at 0,05 nit or lower. But I found, for some reason I'm more accurate in blacks when I work at monitors with 700-800 contrast ratio compared to 1150-1350:1. I know about angles, ips, OLED, environment lighting standards, etc. Just curious what you think about working with not 2000:1 ANSI contrast ratio displays. I'm talking about measured data. Not about data taken from specs of course.
  3. Hi everyone, I am trying to display DCI P3 properly on my HP DreamColor Z27x Studio Display. But everything is going purple when I select the colorspace on the screen menu. I can see my windows behind it but I have this Color on the top. (Windows 10) I'm using DaVinci resolve set to DCIP3 and the HP DreamColor Z27x Studio Display. (Colorspace set to DCIP3, 1440p) I have a Nvidia GTX 1080 connected via display port to the screen. ( GA-Z170X-Gaming G1 motherboard compatible with Thunderbolt) Do I need to set something on the graphic card or the screen? Or do I need to buy external hardware like a DeckLink? ( But I need to find one DCIP3 compatible) Thank you very much guys! (The rushes I'm using are from an Arri Alexa in Applepro res 4444 in Log C)
  4. I wonder if anyone has used subject for gui on Resolve? I know it is a bit ridiculous for resolve but i have other things also in mind like Fusion for that station and lare display would be good there just not sure how well Resolve would handle it. Native resolution is 3840 x 1600. Two issues i would see is curved panel and rather large dimensions and one has to think where to put video monitor and scopes. Any ideas i wold be grateful. http://www.lg.com/us/monitors/lg-38UC99-W-ultrawide-monitor
