In lesson 2, Kevin mentioned in passing that you have to export an AAF from Avid with both audio and video if you're working above HD (ie 3840x2160).

Can anyone expand on this, and why it's necessary even if you're just interested in the video?

Great tutorial! Can't wait to see a workflow with Premiere. It has given me a lot of headaches to get things ok in Resolve, specially when there is a retimed or a clip with a different frame rate in the timeline.

Thanks for this great work Kevin. One note: in lesson 2 sending a premiere project to Davinci Resolve you skipped over sending audio from premiere to resolve and said to just render out a steep mixdown. This is generally always my workflow when grading, but given the Fairlight integration it would be useful to know how to get a working audio timeline into resolve as this is generally the thing that messes up.

would have also liked some discussion around retiming and speed ramp issues as well as the difference between the types of effects transferable over aafs and xmls.

Thanks for all your hard work!

Hi Kevin,

I have a question about conforming from Resolve. As I wrote before, conforming timelines with retimed clips (even when the retiming was just a 50p clip in a 25p timeline) has been given me very mixed results, with lots of clips starting at the wrong timecode. I was using xml though... Perhaps that is the big difference?

Thanks for the good work!

Overlaying a clip to match instead off a reference clip... what I foud out years a ago is to make the reference footge 50% transparant and invert it... you directly see the match which is completely grey... what is not matching will be embossed.

Different techniques in different lessons. If you watch the offline reference lesson you see that he use the reference clip to overlay instead of stacking and blending the clip on the timeline.

Thank you guys, this course has been really helpful beyond my imaginations. Resolve continues to surprise me all the time. It's feature rich, but the features are all with great purpose to get you from start to finish.
